Along with Odeon Cinemas and Cineworld, Vue Cinemas is one of the biggest cinema chains in the United Kingdom. In one form or another, Vue Cinemas has been around since 2003, when it was founded by Timothy Richards and Alan McNair. It has made a number of acquisitions since those early days when it had just 38 cinemas. It was itself sold by private equity firm Doughty Hanson & Co in June 2013 to OMERS and Alberta Investment Management, two Canadian concerns.
