Company Details

Pell & Bales is a very successful telephone fundraising company. They work on behalf of charities that you will probably have heard of - and possibly donated to. Just some of the diverse names that Pell & Bales raise money for include Save The Children, Cancer Research UK, the NSPCC, St Mungo’s, The National Trust, Scope, the Samaritans and Dogs Trust.

Pell & Bales started life in 1990 when fundraisers who were focused on social change decided to set up their own company to raise money for good causes in a socially responsible way.

Over the last twenty years or so, Pell & Bales have grown to become a leader in the field of fundraising by telephone. The company runs over 300 campaigns a year for a client list of more than 100 organisations. Their fundraisers dial up three million people each year to ask if they could make a contribution to the charities that Pell & Bales work with.

In 2010, Pell & Bales pulled in over £35 million for good causes and signed up 60,000 regular charity donators. Over the course of its lifetime, Pell & Bales has raised over £900 million for charities simply by using the telephone in a persuasive way.

But, where do you fit into all of this?

Well, Pell & Bales are always on the look out for new telephone fundraisers – and students and young people just like yourself can be well-suited to this sort of work.

With very flexible hours on offer, you can usually pick your own working time slots to tailor a telephone fundraising job around your studies or other commitments.

Typically, Pell & Bales require that you work a minimum of 14 hours a week and half of the hours must be in the evening or on a Saturday. The hourly pay on offer is good and can be increased if you are successful in your fundraising work.

Your job would be to contact members of the public by telephone to see if they might like to become a regular donator to the particular charity you are working on behalf of. You would also be calling up existing donators to see if they could afford a little bit more each month.

Training and one-to-one mentoring is offered by Pell & Bales so that you can become a highly effective fundraiser. There are also opportunities to progress further with Pell & Bales if you believe that fundraising could be the career choice for you.

Pell & Bales look for candidates who are articulate and have excellent conversational English. A good telephone manner is obviously essential, but strong listening skills are just as important for this line of work. To succeed in this sort of telephone fundraising job you will need to be warm and welcoming - and genuinely want to make a difference by raising funds for charities.

So, if you would like to earn some decent money on a very flexible part time basis - while, at the very same time, raising some money for good causes like Barnardos, the RSPCA, Macmillan Cancer Support or The Children’s Society - then check out now whether Pell & Bales are looking for telephone fundraisers in your area.
