31 Oct 2008

Green work experience placements offered Students at university about to embark on the search for graduate jobs in London are being offered the chance to take part in green work experience placements, it has been reported.

Prospects Virtual Fairs will give students the chance to take on work experience with firms and discover their green business agenda, according to OnRec.

The online recruitment fair will also give employers a chance to market their green credentials and line up an array of environmentally-friendly potential graduate recruits, the news provider states.

Laura Brown from Maxxima, which took part in previous virtual fair, told the website: "The event was a great success for us and we gained some great feedback in terms of what graduates are looking for."

"We received a number of applications, eight of which were very high quality," she added.

Meanwhile, the new drive for graduates interested in green issues comes as research shows Britons are becoming more interested in the importance of energy efficiency.

According to Melanie Russell, head of communications at Anglian, the drive for energy savings in the home will become more apparent as the turmoil in Britain's economy passes and the property market begins to improve again.
