22 Oct 2008

Employment fair at Sheffield Hallam University Students considering looking for graduate jobs in London could benefit from attending the Learning for Employment fair at Sheffield Hallam University.

IT, technology and enterprise students from the university will be showing off their professional skills picked up during work placements.

According to the Sheffield Telegraph, a number of the students have received permanent job offers for after they finish their final year.

Students visiting the fair can find out about the experiences of those participants and can also meet representatives from large businesses such as Honda Racing, Unilever Global Systems, BP International and Nestle UK.

Dr Noreen Axelby, senior lecturer at the university, told the newspaper it has a history of producing "employable graduates".

"The aims of the fair are to increase student awareness of the value and variety of placements, and to provide an understanding of how they contribute to a high quality learning experience," she added.

Students at 18 higher education establishments across the UK are set to be given new end-of-term reports which will give information of a student's achievements when they enter the working world under a new scheme to be implemented in 2009.
