Cosmetics companies look for top science graduates The British cosmetics sector is looking to recruit graduates with a solid science background and good sales skills, it has been reported.

According to the Independent, the shop-face of the beauty industry has changed little over the years, but offers graduates a plethora of career paths.

Lucy Moulton, a graduate from the London College of Fashions cosmetic science degrees told the paper: "The link between the fashion and beauty industries is huge, so it was the perfect place to study."

"The technology used in the beauty industry is outstanding and is improving all the time," she added.

Jobs open to graduates wanting to break into the cosmetics business include product design and manufacture, safety testing and evaluation as well as sales, advertising and marketing.

According to L'Oreal the starting salary for its graduate recruits is £27,000 a year.

The company also offers internships to students interested in a career in cosmetics, with more than 2,200 students gaining experience with the firm every year.

L'Oreal said that 30 per cent of its graduate recruits were hired after doing an internship at the firm.
