Berr aims to reduce firms costs Employers could be interested to hear the government is aiming to reduce employment law costs for businesses.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (Berr) has launched a new campaign in order to save organisations time and money on employment costs.

Its Employing People campaign, which is part of the department's Employment Law Guidance Programme, follows recent research showing businesses were spending unnecessary resources trying to comply with legislations.

Employment relations minister Pat McFadden said fulfilling the terms of laws can be complex but employment legislation is easier than companies sometimes think.

"Instead of spending money on buying in professional advice on employment law, employers can get access to a range of easy-to-use, fully compliant documents that take only a few minutes to complete," he added.

Mr McFadden believes it is key that employers make full use of these free services during the challenging economic times.

The department claims to work to create conditions for business success in an increasingly competitive world and boost productivity in order to keep the UK competitive.
