Part Time Job And Holiday Job News

Increasing numbers of students are taking up part time work or holiday jobs as they complete their studies, it has been reported.

A study by NatWest found record numbers of students are working through their full time degree courses to reduce their debt, according to the Times.

The research discovered that more than 40 per cent of undergraduates will turn up for a part time job in addition to their lectures and tutorials, earning a total of £2 billion over the year.

According to the findings, 25,000 more students will choose part time work this year than in 2007, while undergraduates will spend £10.8 billion on living and accommodation.

Mark Worthington, head of student banking at NatWest, told the newspaper: "Students are increasingly aware of the wider economic climate and this is filtering down into their decisions when they are choosing their university, and also when deciding whether to take a part time job during term time."

Last week, research from online money resource FinancialAdvice.co.uk claimed many students are choosing to work over concerns about the credit crunch and a lack of borrowing opportunities.
