It can be difficult for student parents to study, care for their child and work part-time, a student newspaper has warned.
The Student Times highlighted some parents may feel put off entering higher education because they feel daunted by the "minefield" of arranging money, childcare and studies.
Reporter Jessica Campbell interviewed one student juggling her studies with a part-time job and her 16-month-old son.
"Young parents in university often struggle to make ends meet while studying. As the mother of a three-year-old daughter, I have spent my entire university career as a parent," the student explained.
She added that she works around ten hours a week to supplement the family's income.
However, while student parents and other undergraduates may have to work to provide for their families during their studies, the government does offer financial support.
Parents can apply for a Parents Learning Allowance, the Childcare Grant, financial aid if they find themselves in difficulties and child tax credits.
The Direct.gov.uk pages explain such help is for student parents with dependent children under the age of 15, or below 17 years if they have special needs.
