Gap Year Job News

Students working as temps in order to support their studies could be interested to hear latest statistics indicate the UK's labour market continues to prop up the nation's economy, according to one body.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) revealed figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows another rise in the number of people in employment in the UK.

It also claims pay pressures remain subdued in spite of recent hikes in the rate of inflation.

Gerwyn Davies, public policy adviser at the CIPD, said yet again job numbers continue to defy the woes of the further economy.

"While there has been an increase in the claimant count, the numbers classified as economically inactive have risen less fast, and the number in employment has continued to rise," he added.

It was claimed by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (Rec) last month that temp workers are a vital option to fill the gaps left by workers absent due to the government's new training initiative.

The Rec predicted up to 300,000 people will annually ask to leave for skills training.
