iphone-mania hits the uk
12-Jul-2008

iPhone-mania hits the UK Apple's new iPhone went on sale today spreading manic queues outside mobile phone shops.

O2 and Apple stores nationwide have been swamped by eager customers keen to get their hands on one of the new handsets.

Students who like to listen to music and surf the web on their mobile phones could be interested to hear that interest in the new gadgets is high, so if they want to get their hands on one, they should visit their nearest high street soon.

Telecoms giant O2 - who the phone is exclusive to in the UK - issued a statement on its website explaining the firm is "experiencing unprecedented demand" for the device and should they sell out stocks will be replenished by the end of the summer.

Jeffrey Glueck, chief marketing officer of Travelocity, said: "With an iPhone in your pocket, you'll never roam alone.

"From finding the nearest hotel with just a few taps to checking your flight status in a snap, the magic of iPhone lets us put tools that no one has ever seen before in the hands of travellers."

The new handsets are cheaper than their predecessors with an 8Gb version being given away on tariffs costing £45 to £75 a month and fetching between £59 and £159 for others.
