Students should be aware that when it comes to meeting prospective employers, there is no better way to woo a future boss than through face-to-face networking, one expert has said.
Graduate Prospects revealed meeting in person at job fairs allows students direct access to the recruitment teams.
Students looking for internships and graduates embarking on their careers could be interested to hear that networking in person is recommended as a way to find a job.
Jayne Rowley, publishing director for the higher education body, said: "Whilst online research and information exchange is fast and efficient, there's no substitute for face-to-face networking."
"The fairs allow recruiters to show their human face and many involve their current graduate intake on the stands to give a peer-to-peer view of the company to potential candidates," she added.
Figures from the Higher Education Statistics Agency showed that more than 2.3 million students enrolled on courses at higher education institutes in 2006/7 and postgraduate enrolments increased by three per cent from the year before.
Graduate Prospects was established in 1972 and works in partnership with official bodies in the field of higher education to bring students, graduates and recruiters together.
