Students who like to listen to music on their mobile phones could be interested to hear that Apple has announced its new iPhone will be quicker and cheaper than the first-generation model.
The iPhone 3G, exclusively available on O2, will offer faster browsing of the internet through its new network.
Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive, said the phone will be available in more than 70 countries.
"Just one year after launching the iPhone, we're launching the new iPhone 3G that is twice as fast at half the price," he stated.
The iPhone will be available in the UK on July 11th but the price is currently not known, however the 8GB model will sell in the US for $199 (£100) and 16GB for $299.
Matthew West, chairman and chief executive of Telefonica Europe (O2), said the iPhone has been a "phenomenal success" and the firm is looking forward to enjoying an even better "3G experience".
"We're excited to continue working with O2 to offer the revolutionary iPhone 3G to UK and Irish customers," said Tim Cook, Apple's chief operations officer.
The iPhone was first released in the UK on November 9th 2007 after being introduced five months earlier in the US the company sold almost four million handsets last year and predicted sales of a further ten million devices this year.
