survey: less workers forced to wear suits
30-May-2008

Survey: less workers forced to wear suits Businesses are less inclined to force staff to wear a suit to work, one new survey has shown.

New research from the Aziz Corporation has found that one-quarter of workers polled wear a suit to the office, Online Recruitment reports.

The poll also found that 60 per cent of offices have implemented laxer dress codes recently.

Students looking for summer placements could be pleased to hear that so many firms are operating with relaxed dress codes, especially during summer months when office tmeperatures are likely to get hotter.

Khalid Aziz, chairman of the firm, told the website those who are unsure should err on the side of caution and dress conservatively if in doubt.

Professor Aziz added there is no longer a perception that "we have to wear suits in order to be smart".

However, ClickAJob chief executive Yngve Traberg, said: "How a company presents itself is vital to client relationships - formal business attire sends the message that commitment is disciplined and structured."

It was reported last week on BBC One's Panorama programme that working can improve an individual's mental and physical health.
