The 2012 Olympic Games will boost the UK's job market, new research has found.

An Adecco survey of 1,000 workers revealed that 98 per cent of work placements so far have gone to UK companies with half to businesses outside of London, according to the Recruiter Magazine.

Students looking for work placements in London could be interested to hear that the Olympic Games are likely to be a huge employer in the city.

It found that 15 per cent of those polled will be working with the Games in some capacity, with most working in some form of corporate sponsorship.

Five per cent are undertaking marketing and promotional activities.

Last year, then-mayor of London Ken Livingstone announced an £11 million package to provide training and jobs ahead of the Games.

As part of the scheme, three-year grants will fund training, advice and placements for new coaches, cooks and builders needed for the global sporting showcase.

Mr Livingstone told the BBC: "The 2012 Games is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for London to transform communities across the capital which have suffered from decades of under-investment and neglect."
