Apple's next iPhone model is to shake up the mobile phone market with a bigger display and the super-mobile Atom processor from Intel, executives say.
PC Pro reports Hannes Schwaderer, boss of Intel Germany, said the new version would arrive alongside another iPhone model with 3G capabilities.
If confirmed that the changes will mean students can expect better video quality and faster internet access with new versions of the smartphone.
PC Pro reports Mr Schwaderer said the two models would be unveiled at Apple's worldwide developers' conference in June.
Intel's Atom chip is designed to run in mobile internet devices and is undergoing development so it can catch up with the requirements of gadgets like the iPhone.
Apple launched the iPhone as a revolutionary touchscreen device combining phone, iPod and internet services.
It allows users to access the web via Wi-Fi or through AT&Ts EDGE data network when wireless networks are not available.
Its sleek tablet-like design proved a big hit with style-conscious student fans of the Apple brand.
