Businesses can cope with rising fuel costs by reducing their carbon emissions, according to one industry consultant.
The Green Consultancy revealed that apart from being important for the good of the environment, cutting emissions through implementing energy saving plans in the workplace could save businesses a lot of money.
A recent report by The Johnson Controls Energy Efficiency Indicator found that 72 per cent of organisations are paying more attention to energy efficiency than they were last year.
This could be good news for environmentally-conscious students who work part time to support their studies, as the savings are likely to improve company finances which in turn could make their jobs more secure while helping protect the planet.
John Treble, the consultant's managing director, said: "It is extremely important and of course it is in their own interests ... because they can save a great deal of money.
"You would not think they would need all that much persuading, but of course in industry it is [about] competing with investment in their core business, in production equipment and so on a so forth."
