Gap Year Job News

Students who are doing temporary jobs in manufacturing may be pleased to hear that jobs satisfaction in the sector is higher than any other, according to a new report.

Research from Roevin has revealed that just 34 per cent of staff in the sector are seriously considering leaving their jobs, compared to around half of workers in the finance, IT, retail and business services.

Keith Gallagher, managing director of Roevin, said: "This research is invaluable helping to understand the manufacturing industry and more importantly those who work within it."

He added that it is "encouraging" to see such high levels of satisfaction in the industry areas and it is "particularly interesting" to see the levels of satisfaction with the environment that technical and manufacturing staff work in compared to other industries.

The research also revealed that around 75 per cent of manufacturing employees said that they were satisfied with the career opportunities that are available to them. 70 per cent also said that they were satisfied with their working environments, 15 per cent higher than the average of other sectors.

Earlier this month it was announced that 50 manufacturing jobs are to be created in Powys, as a high-tech engineering company, Invertek Drives, embarks on a £1.5 million regeneration project.
