Businesses should create temporary and part-time roles that demand a more advanced skills set to ensure they are getting the most out of a flexible workforce, according to Welsh organisation Chwarae Tag.
Formed to promote the role of women, the organisation states that more could be done within the jobs to cater for skilled employees that cannot committee to full-time work, reports the Daily Post.
Speaking to the paper, Marcella Maxwell, Chwarae Tag's chief executive, states that "a serious impact on Wales' competitiveness" could be achieved if "employers could design higher-skilled, part-time jobs to unlock this potential".
Earlier this year, Ms Maxwell said that women leaving university can find themselves in debt for longer than their male counterparts.
Her comments came after government figures showed that female students deal with university debt for five years longer than men.
Ms Maxwell told the Western Mail that there was "simply no excuse for this" situation and added that "longer repayment periods for female student debt is just one of many far-reaching social and economic consequences of the gender pay gap".
