Deloitte sees 22% rise in graduate applications

13 Feb 2008

Deloitte sees 22% rise in graduate applications By opening its graduate application process three months early services firm Deloitte has seen the number of applications increase by over a fifth.

The company, which provides auditing, risk management and tax services, decided to bring forward its recruitment process to allow applicants to put forward their details during the summer.

According to Sarah Shillingford, the graduate recruitment partner at Deloitte, states that there is generally more demand within the graduate sector due to slowing economic conditions.

She also said that the increase in applications to Deloitte "may be a reflection on the slowing job market".

However, Ms Shillingford also states that her firm still has positions available and that graduates "should move quickly". Deloitte also states on its website that it has made "significant progress with [its] talent agenda" over the course of the last year.

Speaking more generally on the recruitment market, the graduate recruitment partner adds: "Students graduating in 2008 face a tougher job market than those who graduated last year."
