Female graduates who choose to pursue entrepreneurship rather than finding a job have more options, according to NCGE Flying Start.

The graduate networking system has said that in the future graduates will turn to entrepreneurship more as people are more students are exposed to the possibility of entrepreneurship on their courses at university.

Dr Lorna Collins, director of NCGE Flying Start, said: "Women graduates make up the highest percentage of graduates in a number of degree areas including art and design and music arts.

"We know there are only, in 2005, about 6000 graduate level jobs for art and design graduates in the UK and yet there are 56,000 plus art and design graduates."

She added that increasingly women are now "coming forward with ideas for businesses while at university".

Female students who are looking to start up their own companies are seeking more help and advice in doing so, according to NCGE Flying Start.

Research by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor in 2006 revealed that Britain has one of the lowest ratios for women who own businesses in the G8. In most of the country this figure either stayed the same or increased.
