uk workers stick with jobs
23-Jan-2008

UK workers stick with jobs Workers in the UK prefer to stick with their jobs and attempt to improve them rather than go out and look for new ones, according to a new report.

Research from the Learning and Skills Council, shows that 54 per cent of people would prefer to stay in a job and try and make it better, compared to 16 per cent who would go and find a new job.

Jaine Clarke, director of Skills for Employers at the Learning and Skills Council said: "This research reveals a clear need for employers to change their attitude to training if they are to reduce staff turnover and boost morale.

"This is now easier than ever before thanks to our Train to Gain Service, which offers independent, impartial advice at no cost to the employer."

She added that the Learning and Skills Council would encourage employees to "take their future into their own hands and ask their employers about training before taking the step of finding a new job."

Almost half of the employees who were surveyed in the research said that they would be more likely to stay in a job if they had more training.

The Learning and Skills Council is a public body which attempts to make England more skilled and competitive.
