IT professionals not interested in money Only six per cent of IT professionals say that salary is the most important thing they consider when looking for a new job, according to a new report.

Research, from Conchango has revealed that people in the IT sector prefer to have stimulating work rather than a high salary. It showed that 34 per cent of people surveyed thought the chance to work on interesting projects was the most important thing in a job.

Advertising was shown to be the best way to recruit people in the sector, with 43 per cent of new employees saying that they had found their job through an advert.

Michelle Flynn, internal recruitment manager at Conchango, said: "You can rely on advertising and internal references to a certain extent. However, making use of new technology such as blogging allows you to talk directly to potential recruits, discussing particular vacancies and offering an inside perspective on the company."

She added that with these techniques there are financial benefits as you "cut out the middle man" and it also allows companies to "give candidates a feel for what you're like as a company".

Conchango is a business consultancy which serves high profile clients in the retail, consumer packed goods, financial services, media and entertainment and energy industries.
