Student teachers to seek jobs at fair

18 Dec 2007

Student teachers to seek jobs at fair Students in Hertfordshire are being encouraged to attend a recruitment fair for teachers early next month.

The event is being organised by Hertfordshire county council's school workforce development team.

People who want to start careers in teaching as well as teachers who want a new post are expected to attend, reports thisishertfordshire.co.uk.

Alison Parkes, school workforce development project manager, said: "It's a great opportunity to find out about teaching in Hertfordshire. We'd like to see student teachers who live in Hertfordshire but may be studying out of the county, but we're also hoping to attract returning teachers, teachers from other authorities, career changers, both graduates and non-graduates - in fact anyone who thinks teaching may be for them."

She added that there will also be talks at the fair for people who want to teach in the subjects that are experiencing a shortage of staff such as maths science and English.

The fair is to be held at Hertfordshire Development Centre on the afternoon of January 4th.

It is a free event and there will be a programme of talks on subjects such as teaching in primary schools, behaviour management and routes into teaching.

Teachers recently learned they will be getting a pay rise of over seven per cent in the next three months.
