Christmas starts now for employees

14 Dec 2007

Christmas starts now for employees Students who are still slaving away over end of term essays can look forward to this point in the year when they start work, as a report says that today at 17:00 is the time when employees start winding down for Christmas.

The research, by Teletext holidays, shows that December 14th is the time when workers really get into the Christmas mood. Over half of employees in the UK believe that turning up to work with a hangover over the festive period is acceptable.

Nearly a quarter of workers who were surveyed revealed that they were planning up to ten nights out on work days in the month of December.

Discipline goes out of the window at Christmas according to the research, with a third of employees making up a meeting in order to go out and do Christmas shopping.

Matt Cheevers, managing director of Teletext holidays, said: "This time of year is usually marked by a drop in the levels of intensity and productivity in the office, as the effects of trying to burn the candle at both ends and a dismal summer take their toll."

Teletext holidays provides its customers with a wide range of holidays to choose from over the festive period.
