IT business, Micro Focus has told universities to make sure students wanting to go into graduate IT jobs have business skills on top of their IT training.
The company painted a rosy picture for IT graduates, saying that the demand for IT graduates will rise, but it in order to get ahead in the business they must be given the chance to sharpen up their business skills, reports onrec.com.
Stephen Kelly, chief executive officer of Micro Focus, said: "Over the coming years, we are going to see an increased demand in IT professionals, not only with the ability to maintain and upkeep enterprise systems that have been in place for decades, but also, just as significantly, with the skills to interpret the benefits they are bringing in a business context."
Research from Micro Focus shows that a third of IT workers do not know how much their company spends on core software assets each year and that due to the fact companies and consumers spend more than $1.6 trillion on IT every year, business know how could be useful for IT graduates.
A recent study by the British Computer Society also gave good news for students seeking graduate IT jobs, claiming that UK businesses have an "insatiable appetite" for IT graduates.
