number of graduate job vacancies increases
04-Dec-2007

Number of graduate job vacancies increases Graduate job vacancies are going to rise for the fourth year in a row, according to the Association of Graduate Recruitment Survey 2007.

The report shows that the number of vacancies will rise by 12.7 per cent this year, according to personneltoday.com.

It also showed that the number of graduates who stay in their jobs for two years is at 74 per cent, but this figure drops to 59 per cent after five years.

This research contradicts the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's report which said that 46 per cent of employers thought they would have difficulty finding candidates in 2007.

The findings put pressure on recruiters to do more to keep graduates at their companies.

Meanwhile engineering and construction students in London have been given a boost after it was announced that there will be a new National Skills Academy for Construction on the Olympics 2012 site.

The scheme is set to create 1,000 jobs for local students who are enrolled on construction courses at local colleges and universities. There will also be 500 apprenticeships offered at the site.
