Part Time Job And Holiday Job News

Agency work still has a crucial role in employment according to a new report by research company Bain.

The research, called More Work Opportunities for More People, shows that 2.1 million jobs will be created throughout Europe by the private employment agency industry by 2012 if restrictions on temporary work are lifted, reports onrec.com.

Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), told the website the report "could not have come at a better time" as next week sees the Employment Council meet to discuss regulations on recruitment in Europe and the Agency Workers Directive, which has been proposed to give people in temporary work the same rights as full time workers.

He added: "The findings from the research underline the crucial importance of ensuring that any agreement on the directive enhances rather than hinders the effective provision of temporary work services across Europe."

An extra 570,000 jobs will be created if restrictions on temporary work are lifted and the research shows that 37 per cent of these jobs would be filled by young people.

Last week the REC urged ministers to ensure that more temporary work was created as a result of the meeting on December 5th.
