An impressive 45,614 new jobs were created in Britain last month according to the latest Job Creation Index (JCI).
The figure represents a 31 per cent rise in creations from the October 2006 and is good news for students and graduates currently looking for positions.
Carried out by Mandis in association with Adecco, the JCI found the most jobs were created in health and social care following NHS investment, with creation in print and paper and finance also particularly strong, reports Onrec.com.
Rene Schusterr, chief executive of the Adecco Group UK and Ireland, commeted: "Job creation for all industries and in particular for finance and banking was surprisingly robust given the credit crunch and the Northern Rock situation.
"In fact, demand in temporary recruitment has actually increased. The typical summer lulls in demand never manifested on the temporary side."
She added that, despite concern in the financial sector caused by job losses at financial companies Merrill Lynch and UBS, the majority of sectors look "healthy", with banks "reasonably positive" about recruitment going into 2008.
Meanwhile, Philip Arnold, director of Mandis, said that the "robust" creation in finance and banking was suprising given the recent credit crunch and difficulties surrounding the Northern Rock situation.
He backed this up, explaining that there was an 80 per cent increase in job creation in this sector, totalling 679 new job creation intentions.
