IT firms are increasingly looking to recruit fresh young talent, it has emerged.
A survey on cwjobs.co.uk compiled by Salary Services has revealed that the number of jobs advertised for junior staff IT positions rose by a massive 30 per cent in the third quarter of this year.
The biggest increases in jobs were found to be centred around London and the south, reports recruitermagazine.co.uk.
Meanwhile salaries rose by the highest amount since 1998 this year, with programmers seeing a 12 per cent increase in pay offers, and IT managers earnings up by 10 per cent, raking in over £60,000.
It was found that the most effective means for searching for jobs is only, with printed advertisements for IT jobs down by over half since the same time last year.
The website commented that the reason for the increased advertising and boost to salaries is that there is a skills shortage in the IT sector, owing to a "shortfall of talent".
Research last month by You Gov for Samsung found that employers need to support workers in the development of their IT skills.
Around one in five people in Britain said that there are not adequate IT facilities for them to be able to carry out their work effectively.
