Part Time Job And Holiday Job News

Student jobs changing Increasingly students are forgoing the traditional jobs of bartending and waiting tables to branch into more career-orientated jobs, a recent study has found.

A full 40 per cent of students that work now have jobs that will potentially help them further their future careers, the research from the Royal Bank of Scotland found.

Many are working in sectors such as banking, marketing, management and so forth.

One underlying reason that this is the case is that many students no longer think that just a degree is enough to secure them a job in their favoured field after graduation.

Mark Worthington of the Royal Bank of Scotland, said: "Students now recognize that a degree combined with work experience improves their CVs and job prospects.

"Taking on term-time jobs relevant to future careers provides excellent experience as well as extra money."

The research also found that students at Oxford University are the least likely to hold down jobs during the academic year.
