Friday saw Apple's much-coveted iPhone go on sale in stores in the UK for the first time.
The must-have gadget went on sale at 6.02pm GMT on Friday, in a nod to mobile operator O2, which is partnering with Apple to be the sole carrier supporting the iPhone in the UK.
The innovative combination of phone, camera and internet browser has taken on messianic proportions with some. ZDNet quotes a member of the queue outside the Regent Street Apple store waiting to get hold of one as calling it the "Jesus phone".
Fans queued up the night before to be near the head of the line.
With a price tag of £269, the iPhone is not going to sell in millions, but the cachet attached to the Apple label and its unique functionality have made anticipation for it enormous.
The iPhone was launched at the same time in Germany, where sales of 10,000 have been reported.
The iPhone was released this summer in the US and so far approximately 1.4 million of the devices have been sold in total.
