Graduate Job News

Many people are unhappy with their job and looking to leave their current employer for a different position.

According to a recent survey by Norris and Partners, almost half (43.6 per cent) of all respondents were found to be considering quitting their jobs, reports Onrec.com.

Similarly, 5.1 per cent said they felt OK in their current job, while 51.3 per cent expressed happiness with their position.

Meanwhile, 39.3 per cent of those asked said they would look online for work, with 14.3 per cent saying they would search print publications for employment.

Lisa Norris of Norris and Partners, commented on the wider implications of such results, telling Onrec.com: "In a talent short market, a company’s inability to attract candidates will impede its growth and ability to take advantage of the current economic climate.

"These statistics show additional concerns regarding retention which will place an added burden on the industry."

She added that the results could cause problems particularly at the end of the year, as this is "career review" time.

Stevie Rose reacted to the results, saying that an increase in job opportunities is largely due to general talent shortages.

This would suggest that those with higher education qualifications will be more attractive to employers and better qualified to fill places.
