graduates could see benefits of homework

Graduates could see benefits of homework Graduates looking for work could become part of a growing trend of people working from home in the UK.

Research by the Zurich home insurance company has found that many British professionals are working more regularly from home, according to Onrec.com.

It found that nearly a third of full-time workers spend on average 10 per cent of the month homeworking.

The trend of people homeworking is an increasing one, with many expecting to increase the hours they work from home in the next year.

Many factors lie behind the popularity of flexible working. These include avoiding the distraction of colleagues, choice of working hours and avoiding the daily commute.

Some simply enjoy the possibility of a lie-in in the morning, while eight per cent choose to watch daytime television at some point in the day while at home.

Mark Searles, managing director of Zurich Retail, told Onrec.com: "We are going to see the popularity of homeworking rise and rise as both workers and employers seek a better work/life balance."

Those fearing that homeworking may blur the distinctions between work and home life may be interested to learn that 21 per cent of people not working from home said they still check work emails or read work documents away from the office.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) recently announced that graduates achieving the highest degree classifications are most likely to find employment when leaving university.
