E2save.com is giving away free LG Chocolate phones on O2 contracts with no line rental to pay for a year.
The deal, particularly suited to students on a budget, is based on an O2 call plan at £40 per month for 600 free minutes and 500 free texts per month.
However, in a 'clearance' sale, the website is offering 12 months with no line rental. This deal will bring a £480 saving to the customer.
The mobile phone is an LG KG800, more commonly known as the 'chocolate phone', apparently due to its bar-shaped form.
It is a 'slide open' design, with heat-sensitive glowing buttons which disappear when out of use.
The phone may be of interest to music-loving students as it features an MP3 player and 128MB of memory. It also features a 1.3 megapixel camera with a flash and four times digital zoom.
Drawbacks to the phone highlighted in a review on cnet.com were its small size and its glossy exterior that is "prone to smudges and fingerprints". Also the fact that it is not possible to listen to music while charging the phone's battery.
The offer of free line rental does not include any calls made outside the free minutes provided, which will be charge on itemised billing.
Students may be pleased to learn that the deal also includes a month's free insurance and VIP handset support helpline.
