student's script made into film
30-Aug-2007

Student's script made into film The film Reflections, which will premier at Manchester's Cornerhouse cinema, marks the achievement of a 16-year-old student.

Ashok baker from South Shore scripted the 90-minute film after a work experience placement at Workshop Productions last summer, the Blackpool Citizen reports.

Impressed by his ideas linking society's views on UK teenagers based on what they wear, the company agreed to develop it into a movie.

Currently in post-production, it is reported that the film could be shown at London's Leicester Square if it proves to be a success.

Having confessed to being "gobsmacked" when Worshop decided to pursue the making of the film, Mr Ashok hopes the film will influence people to question their perceptions on teenagers.

The films plot involves a teenager whose life spirals out of control because of the impressions people make of him.

"We were keen to help when we saw the script and are delighted to have got the film made … we were very impressed when Ashok told us of his ideas," Workshop Productions film producer Chris Abbot said.

Meanwhile, a British film tipped for success based on Ian McEwan's novel, Atonement, opened the 64th Venice Film Festival this week.
