Students and others can now get a broadband voice calls package for under a fiver a month.
Zen has launched the new Zen Broadband Voice package, which offers 1,000 anytime minutes over their internet connection to UK landlines for £4.99 (including VAT) per month.
Calls to other Zen Broadband voice customers - and to Zen Internet - are also free.
The flexibility of the arrangement may well appeal to students. The package only has a one month minimum contract term, so customers can try out the service first to see if it meets their needs.
Stephen Warburton, strategic partnership manager at Zen, said: "The Voice service is an excellent add-on to our broadband packages.
"We have had many queries on whether we would be introducing a residential/SoHo phone service, so we are delighted to be able to introduce Zen Broadband Voice.
"We are always looking for ways to improve our product range and customer feedback is vital to allow us to do this."
There is no minimum call connection charge - and customers can monitor their usage on the web.
However, students should be aware that the voice package can only be used with a Zen broadband connection - and Zen recommends customers use a softphone or Zen's recommended hardware.
