Firstsource Solutions is to create 300 full or part time call centre jobs in Derby as it looks to improve services for clients including Sky.

The recruitment drive at Derby’s Pride Park call centre is part of a wider expansion plan which will see Firstsource Solutions take on 1,000 new staff across the UK in the next twelve months.

Firstsource Solutions already employs over 600 members of staff in Derby, but the new round of recruitment will see the firm increase its headcount in the city by almost 50 per cent, taking it close to 1,000 employees before October this year.

Firstsource only set up stall in Derby in February last year but is growing its presence in the city at a rapid rate.

Praising the staff in the city, the company’s head of operations, Adam Gould, said: “We opened our doors in Derby expecting big things but we couldn’t have anticipated the success we’ve had in this centre in one year alone. The dedicated Derby team have been instrumental in taking our business from strength to strength and we’re looking forward to seeing what we will achieve in year two.”

Commenting on the company’s recruitment strategy for the city, a spokesperson for Firstsource Solutions said: “Our current recruitment plan takes us to October 2018. In Derby, we currently have 628 staff and our plan is to grow up to 1,000. At this stage we don’t plan to take up additional space but we may revisit this depending on future growth plans.”

The company’s chief operating officer, Sean Canning, also commented, saying: ““Firstsource is the proud employer of thousands of people in both the UK and India and we look forward to working with Derby City Council to further strengthen business ties between the two nations.”

“We have been incredibly impressed with the commitment and talent of the team in Derby who have worked hard over the past year to create a very successful business in the city. As a result, we are excited to announce that we intend to recruit hundreds of new roles in the coming months, as part of our ongoing commitment as an employer in the city of Derby,” added Mr Canning.

Outside of Derby, Firstsource Solutions has call centre operations in Cardiff, London, Middlesbrough and Warrington. The firm also operates in Northern Ireland, the United States, India and the Philippines.

Worldwide, the company provides jobs for more than 20,000 people and has its headquarters in Mumbai.
