Hotel chain AC Marriott has opened a new property which will create dozens of full or part time jobs in Belfast.

The latest AC Marriott has opened at Belfast’s City Quays development at a cost of £25 million, creating around 80 hotel jobs such as receptionists, waiters and cleaners.

It is the company’s first venture in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland and can boast over 180 hotel rooms and a restaurant with more than 100 covers which will be overseen by the Michelin Star celebrity chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Launching the new property, AC Hotel Belfast’s general manager, Lisa Steele, said: “The doors are open, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our Belfast guests in the inimitable AC Hotels’ way. Our mission is to provide guests with an elevated stay, keeping things simple and stylish, paying mindful attention to the detail of what they actually want, and delivering thoughtfully designed moments of elegance throughout their stay.”

“It’s a winning proposition, tried and tested in over 100 AC Hotels across the world, and, combined with our stunning new property, prime location, and bespoke local extras such as our Novelli at City Quays restaurant, will add a distinct and valuable new dimension to Northern Ireland’s fantastic tourism and hospitality offering,” added Ms Steele.

Marriott International’s Vice President, John Licence, explained why the had chosen the city for their latest hotel, saying: “Belfast has established itself as a leading business, hospitality and tourism destination and we are delighted that Marriott International is entering Northern Ireland with the opening of AC Belfast.”

Founded in Spain in 1998 by Antonio Catalán, AC Hotels by Marriott now has over 100 hotels in countries across the world and employs thousands of people in a variety of full and part time roles.
