Two Firms To Create 350 Full or Part Time Jobs In Wrexham

Two firms have this week announced plans which will create up to 350 new full and part time jobs in Wrexham.

Hotpack Packaging, a company based in Dubai, has said it will create 250 new manufacturing and warehouse jobs in Wrexham before the end of 2022.

Meanwhile, Ipsen, a life sciences specialist has announced plans to recruit 100 new staff in the Welsh town this year.

Hotpack Packaging has received a £1.5 million loan facility from the Development Bank of Wales in order to base its European headquarters at the Llay industrial estate in Wrexham.

Abdul Jebbar, global managing director at Hotpack Packaging, said: “From our very first visit to region, the people of Wales and in particular, Wrexham, offered us exceptional levels of support, both personally and commercially.”

“Having successfully completed the site purchase on October 6, we are currently preparing to fit out the warehouse and factory. We look forward to a long and mutually prosperous relationship with the people and businesses of Wales,” added Mr Jebbar.

Commenting on the deal with the food packaging supplier, Ken Skates, economy secretary for Wales said: “I am confident that Hotpack’s move here will bring genuine benefits to the local economy and community, and I look forward to visiting when the new facility is up and running. This is an example of exactly what can be achieved when businesses are given access to the right advice support.”

Ipsen, the third biggest employer in Wrexham, is also recruiting in North Wales, expanding its current workforce of 400 in the town by 25 per cent to 500 by the end of the year.

Jobs on offer will include a mix of manufacturing and research roles at the company which supplies over 100 countries with dozens of different medicines for a range of conditions.

Alun Cairns, Welsh Secretary, said: “Ipsen is one of north Wales' great success stories. Their continued expansion is a clear demonstration of the significant contribution life sciences and innovation in these specialist areas make to the region and to the Welsh economy.”
