Accenture To Create 1,700 Apprenticeships, School Leaver Opportunities & Jobs

Accenture, the global professional services company, has said it will create a mix of 1,700 apprenticeships, school leaver opportunities and other jobs this year.

During their current financial year, Accenture says it will have created around 600 entry level positions, including 40 technology apprenticeships, technology and digital work experience opportunities, vocational education schemes and many other opportunities for school leavers.

The company will also continue its annual intake of graduates but is keen to catch talent at an even younger age, leading to hundreds of new opportunities for young people who don’t want, or can’t afford, to go to university.

Roles are wide and varied with everything from artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics to cyber defence and virtual reality positions up for grabs.

Many of the 1,700 new Accenture jobs are concentrated in Newcastle and London but opportunities are available in other parts of the country too.

Accenture UK & Ireland’s senior managing director and chairman, Olly Benzecry, said: “Accenture’s growing workforce marks our ongoing commitment to the UK as we continue to help our clients navigate through a period of unprecedented change and digital disruption. It’s an incredibly exciting time to be at Accenture as we work with organisations to unlock value through innovation.”

“As new technologies rapidly impact every aspect of our lives, from progress in AI to the increasing threat of cyber crime, we are taking on people who possess the skills required to help our clients to succeed in the digital economy,” added Mr Benzecry.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond welcomed the Accenture news, saying: “This investment is a vote of confidence in our plan to build a stronger economy. These jobs will be filled around the country in cutting-edge sectors where Britain leads the world, such as cyber security, robotics and virtual reality.”
