Bazaarvoice, a US software company, is to create almost 170 new jobs in Belfast, with some to be graduate vacancies.

The new jobs will be created over the next three years with most of the positions to be in the quality assurance, software engineering and support sections of Bazaarvoice’s business.

It is thought that the average salary for the 168 Belfast vacancies which are to be filled by Bazaarvoice will be over £32,000 but it is not yet known how many will be graduate jobs.

Bazaarvoice works with clients such as Argos, Debenhams, Matalan and Philips on software which allows them to receive reviews and ratings on their retail products via their websites.

Gary Allison, Executive Vice President for Engineering at Bazaarvoice said: “Northern Ireland was able to offer high quality technical staff with relevant industry skills, as well as a stable ICT sector, to support our growth plans.”

“We have already begun our recruitment for experienced software professionals, and have been very impressed with the quality of the people,” added Mr Allison.

Bazaarvoice has been lent a helping hand in the form of grants totalling £1.3 million from Invest Northern Ireland and the Department of Economy.

Alastair Hamilton, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland said: “The new office will house 168 software engineering, sales and customer service staff to help service and grow the company’s UK and European business.”

“Not only is this great for our ICT sector but will provide excellent employment opportunities for unemployed, graduates and experienced staff,” added Mr Hamilton.
