The search is on to find the best young architect of the year.

It is one of several categories at this year's prestigious Leading European Architects Forum (Leaf) Awards.

This year, the young architect award will be sponsored by specialist recruitment agency Hill McGlynn.

Steven Ware, operations director at Hill McGlynn said: "The Leaf Awards have rapidly become Europe's most prestigious architectural prizes, creating and recognising excellence in design and build.

"In particular we believe it is vitally important to recognise the young talent in the industry by supporting the Young Architect of the Year category."

Up and coming architects are able to enter the competition until August 31st.

Architecture is a highly competitive career for students to choose, with good university courses in the subject usually oversubscribed.

However, qualified architects are relatively well-paid - and there seem to be other perks of the job as well.

A recent survey by CareerStructure.com found that many women see male architects as very eligible bachelors.

Some thirty six per cent of women said they would like an architect as a long-term partner, because they were affluent, had good prospects and could design a nice house to live in.
