Amazon To Create 1,200 North West Jobs In Warrington

Amazon has announced plans for a new fulfilment centre in North West England which will create around 1,200 full or part time jobs in Warrington.

The new distribution hub will be Amazon’s fifteenth fulfilment centre in the UK, with others already situated in Doncaster, Manchester, Coventry, Peterborough and elsewhere.

All of the 1,200 new Warrington jobs will be permanent positions with a varied mix of roles on offer such as warehouse vacancies, goods in & goods out, pickers & packers, IT jobs, operations roles, human resources positions and jobs within the company’s operations functions. Amazon will start to recruit for all positions before the end of 2017.

The Warrington jobs will pay a starting wage of at least £7.65 an hour, plus a pension and other benefits packages which Amazon say amounts to the equivalent of a further £700 a year.

Commenting on the hundreds of new jobs in this part of the North West, Director of Customer Fulfilment for Amazon UK, Stefano Perego, said: “We are thrilled to begin recruitment for 1,200 new permanent roles in Warrington with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.”

The 1,200 jobs are part of a wider recruitment drive by Amazon which will see it add 5,000 new permanent roles this year - double the number it recruited last year - and taking its headcount close to 25,000 before the end of 2017.
