Sainsbury’s is to open a new store which will create over 200 full and part time supermarket jobs in Liverpool.

The new Sainsbury’s, to be located on Great Homer Street in the north of the city, will advertise a total of 220 vacancies, with applications for the first batch of positions already closed.

Dozens more vacancies will be posted during April and the following weeks before the new Liverpool Sainsbury’s readies to welcome customers in May.

Roles up for grabs in Liverpool include everything from bakery jobs to fresh food assistants and cafe vacancies to retail roles in the clothes department. The 220 jobs include a mix of permanent positions and temporary vacancies.

A concession branch of Argos, to be located within the new North Liverpool Sainsbury’s will create a further 15 to 20 vacancies at the Great Homer Street site.

The new Sainsbury’s is part of a larger £150 million regeneration scheme which will also see other big names, including Home Bargains and McDonald’s, move into premises on Liverpool’s Great Homer Street, creating over 1,000 jobs in total.

The store manager for the new Sainsbury’s in Liverpool, Chris Coulman, said: “Sainsbury’s has really been looking forward to being a part of the local community for many years and we are really excited to welcome Argos and its team to our store.”
