Travelodge To Create 1,000 New Hotel Jobs In The UK

Travelodge, the budget accommodation chain, has launched a major new recruitment drive which will see the firm add around 1,000 full and part time hotel jobs in the UK over the course of the next few months.

The Travelodge jobs will be at a mix of new and existing hotels, and there will be further vacancies advertised at their head office in Thame.

New Travelodge hotels are earmarked for Andover, East Grinstead, Kings Lynn, London, Peterhead and Stockport, adding to the chain’s 500-plus hotel portfolio across the UK, Ireland and Spain.

The majority of jobs on offer will be at hotels and will include positions for receptionists, bar staff, cleaners, housekeepers and hotel managers. The Travelodge head office jobs in Thame, Oxfordshire will consist of around 50 vacancies in sales, finance and PR. The chain is also swelling the ranks of its in-house maintenance team with around a dozen new vacancies to be advertised for tradesmen such as electricians and plumbers.

Travelodge currently employs around 10,000 members of staff across a variety of shifts so, once the current round of recruitment is complete, the hotel chain will have increased its headcount by around 10 per cent.

Commenting on the recruitment drive, Travelodge’s director of operations, Debbie Husband, said, “Joining a hotel company opens the door to training, career progression and even roles in new countries. We are recruiting for key roles across our UK hotels and at head office. At Travelodge, we have hundreds of colleagues who joined the company, from an entry level position and are now in a management or executive role.”

“Travelodge is committed to developing its people and we offer further education and training opportunities across the business. To date nearly 500 Travelodge employees have graduated into a management position by undertaking in-house development programmes,” added Ms Husband.
