grad business helps students
02-Aug-2007

Grad business helps students A graduate has set up a novel business designed to help forgetful students.

Daniel McCadden, a business and marketing graduate from Northumbria University, has found a way of helping others and making himself some money at the same time.

He has set up Recovered - a unique lost-and-found service which helps customers get back possessions they've mislaid.

The initiative has apparently proved particularly popular with students, which is apt: Mr McCadden originally came up with the idea after losing a USB stick - complete with hundreds of hours of academic work - when he was a student himself.

He told the Journal: "I think the most valuable item that has been returned to a customer was a USB stick with their dissertation on, which was found in the university library by another student."

Recovered provides customers with a pack including labels to attach to items in case they are lost.

A wallet insert is also provided, with a unique ID number which relates to the customer's items.

Finally, recovered items are couriered back to their rightful owners.

Roger Candy, of Northumbria University's Enterprise Campus, said: "I have been very impressed with Daniel's unique business idea, which is practical and achievable, especially amongst the student market."
