Contact centre firm Ascensos has announced a deal with B&Q which will see them create 350 new call centre jobs in Scotland.

The vacancies will be based at new offices which Motherwell-based Ascensos is set to open in Clydebank. The firm currently employs around 400 members of staff in its business, so the recruitment drive will see them almost double their workforce in what is a major deal with the DIY retailer.

Ascensos was already supporting B&Q on their social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter, but, starting in October, the expanded deal will see them assisting the retailer’s customers via telephone, email and chat services too.

Other clients of Ascensos include Argos, Oasis and Scottish Power.

Explaining why they wanted to base their new contact centre workers in this area of Scotland, B&Q’s Head of Customer Services, Tibor Szabo, said: “The warmth and positive spirit of Glaswegians has been an important consideration in choosing Ascensos and the location to take our Customer Call Centre forward. We are delighted to be expanding the work Ascensos is already doing to support our social media channels.”

Commenting on the deal, the Managing Director of Ascensos, John Devlin, said: “We are delighted to be selected as a strategic partner of B&Q. We have established a great relationship with Kingfisher Group and we look forward to building on this and creating a world-class facility for B&Q, their customers and our team in Clydebank.
