130 New Jobs Coming To Leeds

Around 130 new full and part time Leeds jobs are to be created with the redevelopment of the former MIAMI building in the Garforth area.

Lidl will create around 40 supermarket jobs at the site, whilst a family pub and two retail outlets will create a further 90 vacancies at the redevelopment.

Leeds City Council have just given a green light to the multi million pound proposals which could see Lidl start building a new supermarket at the development within the next few months. The redeveloped site will be able to cater for up to 300 cars at any one time.

Planning Director for Lidl’s agent on the deal, Chris Darley, said the MIAMI building had been prone to long periods of vacancy and under-occupation over the years, but that the new redevelopment would solve that problem for good.

“This development will deliver significant benefits for the local area, including increased choice for food shopping and new job creation. We have engaged closely with the local community on the proposals and it commands overwhelming public support. We are delighted that Council Members have recognised these benefits in supporting the planning application,” said Mr Darley.
