Domino’s Pizza is to create 10,000 full or part time jobs in the UK and Ireland this year, fuelled in large part by an anticipated surge in orders during the Euro 2016 football championships and the Summer Olympics, when hungry spectators could order up to three pizzas per second.

The fast food chain posted record profits last year with cheese and dough prices at bargain basement levels, and they expect that over 60 new Domino’s Pizza outlets will be opened this year, taking them through 900 outlets in the UK.

Around 1,400 of the new vacancies will be London jobs and other parts of the South East are expected to benefit majorly from the recruitment drive, with a further 1,900 Domino’s jobs up for grabs in the region.

Other areas with Domino’s Pizza jobs bonanzas include the North East with 1,300 vacancies and the North West which should see around 1,000 new Domino’s pizza jobs added.

Mascot for the latest Domino’s Pizza recruitment drive is none other than Kevin Keegan, the former England football manager and player.

Keegan, who played over 60 games for England and managed them during Euro 2000, said: “I was fortunate enough to give a lot of great players their first caps as England manager and it's fantastic to be capping a new group, albeit on a different playing field. Domino's taking on 10,000 new team members to handle the number of fans watching Euro 2016 is great and gives everyone something to cheer about before a ball is even kicked.

“With a bit of luck, the home nations and especially England can go far in the tournament, so they could probably do with the extra people,” added a hopeful Mr Keegan.

Summing up the incredible appetite for their product in the UK, chief executive David Wild said: “2016 is a bumper year for Domino's, we have plans to open around 65 new stores and we'll serve up over seven million pizzas during the Euros alone.”
