Opus Energy, a leading electricity and gas provider to UK businesses, has said it will create over 100 customer service jobs in Cardiff at new offices in the Welsh capital.

The new Opus Energy offices will be at Cardiff’s 2 Capital Quarter development and will by the company’s first base in Wales. The offices are due for completion in June and dozens of customer service roles are still to be filled by Opus Energy.

The company supplies energy to over 200,000 businesses across the UK and already employs more than 750 people in full or part time roles at its existing offices in Oxford and Northampton.

Last year, Opus Energy featured as a leading employer in the Sunday Times awards, appearing on both their Top Track 250 and 100 Best Companies To Work For lists. The company has both a graduate programme and apprenticeship schemes.

Commenting on the Cardiff jobs bonanza at the company, Opus Energy’s operations director, Andy Nash, said: “Our new operational hub in Cardiff will make sure we can continue to raise the bar for standards of customer service for businesses across the UK. We are excited by the high calibre workforce in the area and look forward to beginning our recruitment drive in the coming months.”

Phil Bale, Leader of Cardiff Council, embraced the energy supplier’s move to his city, saying: “We welcome Opus Energy’s decision to expand into Cardiff which is testament to the appeal of the City and further endorses the success of the Cardiff Central Enterprise Zone. I am confident Opus Energy’s recruitment drive will be successful given the wide variety of skills and the high standard of the local workforce.”
